Engineering 39B: Introduction to Computational Engineering Science

This course is an interactive freshman/sophomore seminar intended to provide students with an overview of the Computational Engineering Science program. Lectures include descriptions of the CES program and curriculum, including the flexibility of core and cluster course options. An introduction to fundamental modeling techniques is also provided. Guest lectures from diverse multidisciplinary computational areas will highlight potential areas of focus in computation. Active student participation is encouraged.

Prerequisites:              common sense, some basic programming capabilities, some freshman level math and basic science concurrently

Meeting:                      1.5 units, Tue. 3:30-5:00pm in 283 Dwinelle Hall

Grading:                     pass/no pass; <5 light homeworks, no final exam

Late HW policy:         -10% per day; -100% when solution posted
