J. Hammel (U.C. Berkeley - EECS) oopd1 (object oriented plasma device 1-d) has undergone extensive development is has most of the capabilities of the previous C suite of PTSG codes (xpodp1, xpdc1, xpds1, xes1) that it is designed to replace. This discussion is meant to describe the status of oopd1 and further directions of development. Several new modules in oopd1 have been implemented: * equation parsing (Jeff) * emitter (Yang) * monte carlo collisions (Chul-Hyun) * direct solver (John) * tree code (Andrew) Several modules vital to oopd1 are under active investigation and development: * documentation (everyone) * test cases (everyone) * bug fixes (everyone) * curvilinear movement (John) * diagnostics (Jeff) * fluid/chemistry models (?) * much much more... This discussion is meant to examine the roadmap of oopd1 -- to see where we have been and where we are going. oopd1 is meant to be a general purpose PIC code that is fully extensible with maximum compatability between modules. I hope to keep this as informal as possible and would like to see feedback from developers and other members of the PIC community.
