Minnich (UCB CES) Continuity and power balance equations can be written for a spatially averaged model of a plasma discharge with multiple constituents, which take into consideration the profiles of density and fields by assuming the profiles and using them to calculate wall loss terms. Collisions are included by assuming a distribution shape and comuting reaction rate coefficients as a function of electron temperature. The system becomes a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The mechanics of solving this set is discussed, and the challenge of computing the time-changing electron temperature is discussed.
