Progress --  Edge Physics Simulation at LLNL

The Plasma Theory and Simulation Group through investigators John
Verboncoeur are collaborating with efforts of Lawrence Livermore
National Lab for edge simulations of fusion plasmas.  Specifically,
the PTSG effort will focus on the simulation of the interaction of the
plasma with the wall and the region within a few cyclotron radii
thereof.  Ions will be kinetic, as will carbon neutrals.  The bulk of
electrons will assume the Boltzmann relation.

This progress reports on the status of the boltzmann solver as implemented 
in oopd1 and oopic.  A new fluid structure has been implemented in oopd1 
and will be discussed.  The Boltzmann class will presented in the context 
of this framework -- tested results will be discussed.  The direction for 
implementing the boltzmann solver as well as other parts necessary for the 
edge model will be presented and discussed.
